I am recovering.
I am recovering from too much fun, and too much work, etc, etc.
There are times in life when you need to find a balance.
There are other times when you have to surrender control and let the scale swing widely back and forth, until you come gulping for air at the surface.
I am now waving my white flag, pretending bank accounts are not a thing and looking forward to a few days in bed.
But it was worth it. Every penny. Every bite. Every night. Worth it and more.
Pizza at Da Remo, because it was necessary.
Chocolate3 at La Romana because we could.
Incredible Vin Santo aged for 20 years because it was a Monday in Tuscany.
Amatriciana at Da Cesare because it is always a good time to order amatriciana.
Late night trapizzini in Testaccio because we had too much catching up to do to be bothered with restaurants and reservations. ย Better to sit at home, talkandtalkandtalk, and then get polpette.
Back to Da Cesare for good wine and spicy eggplant to celebrate birthdays and contemplate new beginnings.
And cheese. Because there is always room for cheese.
Can I come to Rome with you please? I went back in May and I adored it but couldn’t persuade my ambling family to make the trek to Da Cesare. So so sad… xxx

The gnocchi fritti with cacio e pepe! You have to make it out there next time! If you need a dinner date, I will meet you there! ๐
OMG looks so delicious! That cheese… I need to be in Italy – stat! ๐

Srsly. Cheese is a major food group for me. I have four kinds in the fridge right now! But this one? This one was really really good.
COULDN’T agree with you more Natalie! Life is about experiences, and a balance of splurging without guilt and then scaling back briefly. My 2-holiday month in September [Paris AND Rome! Treat yoself! ๐ ] was expensive almost to the point of ruin – hence an incredibly frugal October. But it was 100% worth it! So sad I missed your UK jaunt – meetup when I’m next in Rome? ๐ xx
I belong to the Church of Treat Yo Self… but that is also why I am pretending bank accounts are not a thing! I will recover ๐ And YES- would love to see you next time you pass through Rome. Will let you know if I make it to Cambridge!
