La Terrazza: Hotel Continentale’s Stunning Rooftop Bar in Florence

There are few things more perfect than sunset on an Italian rooftop. And when that rooftop includes cocktails and amazing views of one of Italy’s prettiest cities? Well then, that’s pretty much a dream.

Perched atop the Hotel Continentale along the Arno River is La Terrazza, famed lounge bar in Florence, and one of the best spots to have a refreshing cocktail. In true Italian style, the terrace bar is located on the roof of a medieval tower.

It is a super chic stop to lounge upon the pillow-top bench that runs around the edge of the terrace and enjoy the city views. We have our next trip to Florence planned for September, and I can’t wait to take a seat and sip a drink to match the sunset (think: a Tuscan rosé or the signature El Continental cocktail with Mezcal, Tequila Reposado, Martini Rubino, Mexican Mole Bitter… seriously, why is our trip not this weekend??)

I love Florence, but I will always argue that seeing a city from above is one of the best ways to enjoy it.  Balanced aloft, you can enjoy a glimpse of Brunelleschi’s Duomo, Palazzo Vecchio and the Belvedere Fort without ever leaving your seat at La Terrazza.

The rest of Hotel Continentale is also pretty dreamy.  The space is decorated with stylish retro touches that are throwbacks to the glamour of the 1950s.  Before heading up to the terrace, we plan to stop in the mod lounge bar.

Unless I can manage to swing a moment in the spa instead.

Massage by day and drinks on the terrace by night? I think the trip just planned itself.
