Wine Concept is a little refuge near the Colosseum.
The wine bar is an easy mix of classic and modern that can be hard to achieve. Glossy white tables, a wrap around bar and red touches make it feel thoroughly updated.
But the low lighting, curved stone ceiling and simple tile floors are throwbacks to another era.
I love this wine bar for its selection and the Motown music they usually have playing to set the mood.
Hundreds of bottles line the walls, and could be yours to take away or sip at your leisure.
Wine Concept also has several wines by the glass every day. Pick from 4-5 bollicine, at least 5 whites and reds each, and the odd rose. Most are Italian, with a mix of French, and some Portuguese Ports by the time you get to the dessert wines.
I lean towards the welcoming wine bar because there is always a good selection of natural or organic wines as well.
Wine Concept is not just another pretty bottle store – they also have a selection of cheese, salami, carpaccio and snacks to go along with your glass of vino.
A €5 aperitivo of the day (when I went it was a torta di pane con mortadella) and two hot plates that change daily are the best bet for something more substantial.
Don’t worry, Wine Concept even offer a chocolate-heavy dessert menu.
But mainly I stop in for the wine and a quite, welcoming place to spend a bit of time away from the crowds a few streets away.
The location, wine list, and super welcoming sommeliers on staff make Bibenda Wine Concept one of the best wine bars in Rome.
“Refugee” ?
Whoops! I write about refugees for work so that was an autocorrect!
REFUGE. A perfect little escape.
Thanks 😉
