Did you know that Rome gets more rain than London?
It’s true. It just comes all at once.
Luckily, Rome looks good in the rain.
There is a saying, particular to March:
Marzo cambia sette cappelli al giorno. (March changes its hat 7 times a day).
We have had positively spring like weather for the last two days. The two before that? The coldest yet of the year. And this week? It seems we will be back to rain.
There are actually plenty of sayings about weather in March because March is crazy.
Marzo: un sole e un guazzo.
March: sun and a shower.
Marzo pazzarello guarda il sole e prendi l’ombrello. March is crazy- see the sun and take an umbrella.
If the sky is blue, don’t trust it. And if it turns grey, definitely pay attention.
I always have a small, lightweight umbrella in my bag and advise you pack the same.
Don’t worry if you get caught in a rain storm — umbrella sellers will appear! You should be able to haggle them down to €3-4 for a small umbrella, and €6 for a large.
Spot on. We were amazed how it could go from clear blue sunshine filled skies to pouring rain and back to sunshine in no time at all while in Rome last week. The clouds come in so quickly that you don’t even realize they are coming. But the good news is that they tend to go away just as fast, too.
Main take-away: umbrellas = must have.
Cheers!
Yes! So true. The bad weather moves on quickly. Hope the rain didn’t dampen your trip 🙂
