Friends! Romans! Countrymen! Lend me your ears!
If you are in Rome, I want to invite you to come celebrate with us in the center while raising funds for a great charity. A very dear friend of mine is preparing to leave Rome and return to her work in South Africa and we want to send her off with as many funds as possible.
I cannot express how saddened I am at the news that famine is about to be declared in Somalia. The daily news is a somber reminder of the pressing need to address and change the food/political/economic issues confronting much of the world.
On Thursday 21 July 2011, we will be raising funds for The Themba Development Project, whose goal is to improve access to food and clean water, minimize poverty and food insecurity, encourage education and develop short and long term solutions to the food crisis facing the local people of Thembalethu and Nqiningana, South Africa.
What: Fundraiser for The Themba Development Project
Bring your loose change and make a donation at the door, or buy 50/50 tickets and have a chance to win a cash prize! Don’t miss our really fun dating auction where select volunteers strut their stuff in exchange for your donations! (It really is a lot of fun, so see you there!!)
Where: Scholars Lounge, Via Plebiscito 101b, Rome (Right next to Largo Argentina!)
When: Thursday night! 21 July, 2011 from 9 pm – 2 am!
I hope you can make it! Please come say hello if you are out on Thursday.
If you are unable to attend, it would be amazing if you would consider making a donation to:
The Themba Development Project (South Africa)
or
UNHCR (to support current work in the Horn of Africa)
Good luck with your fundraising!
