Flowers in the Wall

San Lorenzo is technically outside of Rome’s ancient city wall, so I often have a chance to walk past the impossibly old structure.

Today, I noticed a few yellow and purple flowers growing from the top.

I cannot wait for spring in Rome.

You’ll be surprised to also see CAPER BUSHES sending out marvelous purple and white flowers which before they bloom are enormous CAPERS which are often cut and vinegared for apperitivi…you can buy them in jars at almost any supermarket. They are exquisitely delish.
