One of the reasons that I am thankful I moved to Italy is the pace of life.
Though even here it’s hard for me to avoid getting caught up in the daily grind.
When a friend asked me to hit pause and join her for lunch in Tuscany, of course I said yes.
No matter how busy life gets, there is always time for a glass of rosato.
Nearly as soon as we crossed the border between Lazio and Tuscany, we arrived.
Only about 2 hours from Rome, Capalbio is a sleepy corner of Tuscany that most international visitors miss.
Quiet rolling hills, olive groves, Mediterranean breezes and vineyards.
The vines of Tenuti Monteti are not ancient.
Planted in 1999, the vineyards began producing fantastic red wines early.
The winemakers are committed to nurturing their 28 acres in Tuscany. Organic fertilizers and responsible farming are used throughout.
Less than 20 years on, the wine is award winning and the setting is peaceful.
It makes me wander what one needs to do in order to be able to hit pause for real, move to Tuscany, and live out your days dreaming of grapes and coastal escapes.
Caburnio is a modern classic. Full bodied and dangerously drinkable.
But with summer finally settling in, I was drawn back to the rose.
Next time, I would like to explore the town of Capalbio.
But this was a day to sip, and laugh, and drink in the beauty of life in Italy.
Well this looks a little too gorgeous. I’m possibly heading to Tuscany in a few weeks with my family (I don’t think I’ve ever seen us arrange a holiday so last minute!) so if we do end up there, I think a little trip to Tenuta Monteti is in order xxx

Was wondering about the arrangements for your visit to Tuscany in this post. I visited the vineyard site but did not see a tour schedule, etc. Did you just arrive unannounced, or make an appointment in advance?
