Sunset at the Spanish Steps

Mid-May in Rome is absolutely perfect.

Early May didn’t start at that way this year.

We bundled up in coats and pulled our rain boots out.

But last week walking to meet my aunt and uncle for dinner, Rome was perfect.

The Spanish Steps are currently under repair, which is a pity because they are both picturesque and functional.

However, it was the temporary closure of the steps that made us pause at the top, and look out across Rome.

The sunset lit the domes of Rome and illuminated the many-layered terracotta colors of Piazza di Spagna.

As we wandered past the temporary barriers, we thanked the city for the lucky inconvenience.

There is nothing like May in Rome.
